Alpine are in the battle for fifth in the constructors’ championship with Aston Martin and AlphaTauri. The French outfit are currently seventh with 40 points, eight and nine points behind AlphaTauri and Aston Martin, respectively. However, their driver Esteban Ocon believes the team have what they need to finish in fifth ahead of their rivals.

Although the team have shifted their focus to developing the 2022 car, the French outfit would very much like to finish as high as possible. Ocon believes they finally have a competitive enough car to fight for points more frequently.

Our strength is going to be probably our fighting spirit: Esteban Ocon

As reported by Motorsport, the Frenchman believes not being able to fight for points more constantly has made the team more resolute and stronger.

I think our strength is going to be probably our fighting spirit, because we are not always the fastest of that group,” Ocon acknowledged.

AlphaTauri have been a little faster than we were. Aston Martin are also quite fast and giving us a hard time in most places. But we are going to fight them until the end.

“And it’s going to be only the one that scores consistently throughout the year, little points by little points, who are going to finish in that fifth position. There’s still a long way to go. So we’re ready to fight,” said the Frenchman.
