The tire whisperer, Lewis Hamilton, has come out in the defense of the entity that keeps them warm. The 7x champion states that if they do not maintain the status quo in F1, the perils may come knocking at the racing world’s door. Tire blankets are set to be banned from 2024. Many hailed the proposed step as a pro-environmental one. However, the man who has witnessed both sides of the debate thinks it is a dangerous step.
The tire temperatures have been the most crucial part of the on-track activities. An optimally heated tire can catapult the race car drivers to overtake the front runners or maintain the lead. The process has even progressed to the extent of FIA announcing a sans blanket wet weather tire test to be conducted in Imola. While the Pirelli chief, Mario Isola, said that they will put the step to a vote after sufficient tests, the Mercedes driver has already warned them of the dangers ahead.
As quoted by Planet F1, Hamilton said, “I think it’s dangerous. I’ve tested the no blankets, and there is going to be an incident at some stage. So, I think it is the wrong decision. You have to drive multiple laps to get the tyres to work. The whole argument is that taking away the blankets is going more sustainable and more green. But in actual fact we just burn more fuel to get the temperature into the tyres.”

He further added,
“The more concern is when you go out: you are skating around and it is very twitchy. If someone else is on tyres that are working, you can easily collide with them. So, it is a pointless exercise.”Read More: Lewis Hamilton & Co’s Bluff Called Out After a Disappointing Start in Bahrain Triggers a Concerning ResponseThe man who never shies away from raising his voice for issues warned the FIA about the risks involved in doing away with the tire blanket system. Lewis Hamilton says he will continue to be himself

school-like rule, as termed by Lando Norris.Hamilton spoke during the W14 launch. He stated, “I’m going to continue to be me and continue to fight for things that I am passionate about. I wouldn’t let anybody stop me from doing that.”
He further added, “It doesn’t surprise me. But nothing will stop me from speaking on the things that I feel that I’m passionate about and issues that there are.”
