Mercedes AMG F1’s official Twitter handle recently uploaded a video that shows the on-track battle between Hamilton and Perez. The video was uploaded with the caption, “Real racing at Interlagos. Maximum respect as Lewis battled Checo for P2!”

The footage was from the race when Hamilton overtook the former Racing Point driver to take P2.

The dig is arguably in reference to Hamilton and Verstappen not being able to race for long, as, from Mercedes’ point of view, Max made a move down the inside of turn 2 that led both the drivers to collide. The collision left the Dutchman with a broken front wing and forced the Briton to lose places.

“You know how it is with Max,” said the seven-time world champion in his post-race interview while pondering if he could have won the race if it wasn’t for that incident.
