Boy, is Lewis Hamilton one lucky man! The Mercedes superstar had gotten off to a poor start, slipping down to P3. However, it looks as though with all of Lewis’ success, he also has managed to win some luck.
During a crucial moment of the race, with Max Verstappen and Valtteri Bottas already having boxed, Hamilton dived into the pits for the hard compound tires.
As luck would have it, just as Hamilton was about to come into the pit lane, the virtual safety car was activated. The reason being Renault man Esteban Ocon had to park his RS20 on the side of the track to retire from the race.

This incredibly small safety car window was all that Hamilton needed. Following a quick pit stop, Lewis easily emerged ahead of Bottas and Verstappen, into the lead of the Grand Prix.
As things stand, with only 11 laps to go, it looks as though the six-time world champion is all set to win his 93rd Grand Prix.
You do feel for Bottas, who was leading the race and had gotten off to a brilliant start. Sometimes, that’s just how this sport is.

That’s it! The checkered flag has been waved, signaling the end of the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix. Lewis Hamilton has won his 93rd race while Bottas has come in second place.

This has sealed the Constructors’ championship for the Brackley-based outfit. This is their 7th consecutive Constructors’ title. They could not have asked for a better weekend in Italy. What’s more, they achieved this in Ferrari’s backyard too.
Meanwhile, the closest rivals, Red Bull, have had an absolute nightmare. They will leave Italy adding zero points to their tally. It’s a disappointing end to a race that had promised a lot.

Unfortunately for them, Verstappen, who was in P2, suffered a spin out because of tire problems. Meanwhile, teammate Alex Albon also dropped out of the top 10 after losing control of his car and spinning after the late safety car, brought about because of George Russell.
Mercedes and Hamilton couldn’t have asked for more this weekend. Their juggernaut continues to roll on with no end in sight.
