Daniel Ricciardo clinched his second podium in three races at Imola last weekend. It catapulted the Australian to P4 on drivers standing, with Leclerc at P5.
Ross Brawn, in his F1 column, was all praises for Ricciardo’s performance and driving skills. He claimed that if Ricciardo was in a Mercedes, he would be winning races and titles.
Ross Brawn is the Formula 1 Managing Director and a former team principal. He earned his fame as the mastermind behind Michael Schumacher’s many world championship wins.

Brawn claims that Daniel Ricciardo is one of the best
Brawn reported that Ricciardo deserves all his podiums and applauds. He said, “Daniel Ricciardo is a brilliant driver, and one of the very best in Formula 1.”
Ricciardo’s drive and battle with Kvyat in the last couple of laps at Imola was highly impressive. He has had four top 5 finishes and secured the only two podiums for Renault this season.
“If he had a Mercedes, that’s absolutely no doubt in my mind he would taking race wins and pole positions and challenging for the World Championship,” Brawn stated.
Brawn also mentioned that Ricciardo is leaving Renault this year. As Fernando Alonso fills his seat, he believes Renault will be sad to lose the Australian.

Does Ricciardo regret his move to McLaren after two podiums?

Daniel Ricciardo made the decision to move to McLaren earlier this year. At that moment, Renault was not looking at its possible best.
Renault is the most improved team since the start of this season. Now, after twin podiums, it begs the question of whether Ricciardo regrets his decision.
Brawn reported previously that, in his view, Ricciardo is not inclined to such a thought process. He believes that Ricciardo weighs his situation carefully before making a decision and sticks to making that work.

Renault is currently in third position in the constructors’ championship. They would surely want to finish the season at that position.
Ricciardo will focus on the remaining races to ensure his P4 finish on the championship table. Meanwhile, it remains to be seen whether Ricciardo will be able to do what he did with Renault and bring McLaren back to multiple podiums.
