At the opening weekend in Bahrain, Sebastian Vettel didn’t have the desired start to his new chapter with Aston Martin. However, he has hope, as the German has revealed that the car feels better and believes the team can have a better weekend at Imola.

In the first practice session on Friday, the four-time world champion didn’t make it to the top ten. Vettel came fourteenth with a lap time of 1.17.984. Then, in FP2, things got worse for the Aston Martin driver, as he came fifteenth and clocked in 1.17.092. as his lap time.

Vettel hopes that he can find the pace around the track for Saturday’s qualifying session. Moreover, he looks to redeem himself and bring home his first points of the season.

Sebastian Vettel feels the team will achieve a better result at Imola than Bahrain

Upon being asked how the car felt, he said, “It was a bit better, so we brought some bits. I think they are small improvements. So generally the car feel was better. I think it was good to digest in the last race, and I think we should be a little bit better here.”

“So, let’s see tomorrow. Today was with a one-hour session, they are quite busy, so it is always clear to get the laps and stuff, but tomorrow we know a bit more,” he concluded.

Vettel feels the team hopes are high despite poor weekend at Bahrain

Aston Martin didn’t get the return to Formula One they wanted. while his teammate, Lance Stroll came home tenth and only brought home a single point for the Silverstone-based squad, Vettel had was given two penalties and finished fifteenth in the race.

Despite all this, the team are optimistic about the upcoming race weekend.

Vettel said, “Well the team is great, I think the spirit is great in the team and I feel really comfortable, so I’m enjoying the work and the efforts that are going in.”

He added, “We have a little bit of new bits for this weekend. Hopefully, they will make us a little bit faster; we struggled a little bit with pace in the first race but it’s only the start of the season, so yeah, I think we should have a better race here.”
