Earlier, Elon Musk made it very clear that to have a blue tick in the profile, the user has to pay $8 per month. And now the famous entrepreneur has brought in the gray label. Many experts have raised their concern that giving the blue tick can lead to many scams in the future.
To bring a distinguishing factor between real and fake IDs, Twitter has started giving legitimate organizations and different celebrities a ‘gray’ badge.
Esther Crawford, a Twitter employee, cleared the idea behind the badge as she said, “The idea was to verify reporters so their identities couldn’t be used to push false information on Twitter. Musk had previously floated designating official accounts in a way other than the blue check.”
