Big day for the Mercedes man as the seven-time world champion, Lewis Hamilton, was granted honorary Brazilian citizenship, right before he gears up for the upcoming Brazilian Grand Prix. The Briton, who is also a knight, has now gained the Brazilian citizenship that he dedicated to the late Brazilian F1 world champion.
Earlier, in Brasilia, at the Congress chamber, Hamilton appeared in front of a room full of citizens and F1 fans. Hamilton has a loyal Brazilian fan following, and many made sure that they were present to watch the 37-year-old become one of their own.

Hamilton took to the podium to give a speech as he received this honor. Moreover, he took this opportunity to dedicate this moment to the legendary Ayrton Senna, who got taken from the F1 world far too soon.
Hamilton said, “I really want to dedicate today, this honor, to Ayrton Senna. To Ayrton’s family, to his friends, and to his fans. For me, when I was five years old, I saw Ayrton race for the first time. And that was the moment I knew, that I wanted to be world champion, just like him.”
The Brazilian office authorities celebrated Hamilton’s new beginning with huge applause and a warm speech. Painting the Briton in a wonderful light, the Chamber of Deputies, Arthur Lira, welcomed him, saying, “British by birth but Brazilian at heart.”
Arthur further teased the Briton as he called him the 8th-time world champion. It seems he also took a subtle dig at the Red Bull team, portraying his support for the seven-time world champ.
He said, “Lewis is a collector of titles, a 7-time Formula 1 world champion. Or are they Eight? Octa champion!” He added, “Someone from the staff will pay for it!”
Hamilton was extremely emotional as he shared his love for Brazil with the people!
