We all know, on track, Max Verstappen likes to push the limits. However, there are also times off-track when the Dutchman has pushed his limits. One instance is from 2019 back when Verstappen was above the clouds celebrating his 22nd birthday.
The young Red Bull pilot was literally above the clouds in a jet, celebrating his birthday on his way to his home in Monaco. The Dutchman, joined by ex-teammate Daniel Ricciardo, celebrated his birthday to the extent that he had trouble finding the keyhole to his house.

Talking to Ziggo Sport about the night, Verstappen said, “Yes, I remember that night. I drank a little too much.. water. And when I came home, I had some trouble finding the hole, the keyhole!”
When a 22-year-old Verstappen opened the door, his sister and her boyfriend surprised him. Little did they know the young man had already celebrated.
And as the saying goes, the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. Discussing Max’s birthday, Jos Verstappen revealed how he too spent his weekends during his youth. “We had a 1-year racing break in my racing career when I was 17. I went partying Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, and they had to pick me up and bring me home. That’s how drunk I was,” Jos Verstappen admitted.
So, like father, like son? It is sometimes nice to see the real and human side of these disciplined high-performance athletes. However, the father and the son also talked about their professionalism after brushing the night aside.

Jos Verstappen showcased that exact sternness while talking about his son’s 22nd birthday celebration. “It’s a 20-year-old boy that travels a lot with a private jet. Everything is possible. He has to make sure he keeps both feet on the ground,” he said.
Max echoed his father’s mentality and said, “I think this can happen sometimes, of course.” But admitted, “No, I don’t do really crazy things, but yeah!”
