Max Verstappen arrived in 2023 with an even stronger zeal and craft. The sheer dominance of Red Bull during the entirety of the Bahrain Grand Prix had onlookers arrive at only one conclusion; it is going to be a Red Bull show through and through. However, a video from the archives has shown the Dutchman revealing his race-winning strategy. He channeled the F1 pundit Will Buxton, even before the inception of the ongoing season.
Will Buxton in Season 4 of DTS had said, “In Formula 1… if you finish in 1st position… [dramatic pause] …you will win the race.” This statement broke the internet with people having a riot in a meme fest. The usually camera-shy and quiet Max Verstappen doesn’t indulge in a lot of back and forth with the media. In a video posted on a fan account, we see the double-world champion using his repartee or perhaps recalling the Buxton way.
The interviewer asked Verstappen, “What’s gonna be the key to winning today?” To which in a nonchalant manner, Verstappen replied, “Finishing first”
