Sebastian Vettel showed he’s still got it when he overtook Kevin Magnussen in spectacular fashion in the final lap of the US GP. The German legend’s recovery from a slow pitstop earned him many laurels across the motorsport world. Vettel finished the race in P7, courtesy of a 30-seconds penalty to Fernando Alonso.

But Vettel fans were especially intrigued by the latest announcement made by Sauber and Audi. F1 confirmed on Twitter stating, “Sauber will compete as the Audi factory team from 2026, using an Audi power unit”. Sauber is currently racing under Alfa Romeo, using a Ferrari engine, with Valtteri Bottas and Zhou Guanyu driving for the Swiss team.

Audi enters the world of F1 as they announced their partnership with Sauber. The Swiss team previously was runner-up with another German giant, BMW in the 2007 season. They finished the season with 101 points.

Amid all this, F1 fans wanted Audi to hire Sebastian Vettel for their seat, as they raised their opinions on Twitter. This comes despite the fact that Vettel is retiring at the end of this season.

Furthermore, fans insisted on having Vettel paired with fellow German driver, Mick Schumacher. Mick is yet to extend his contract with Haas and looks set to become a free agent once his contract expires.
