Formula 1 and pop culture have always had a symbiotic relationship. That is to say, on more than one occasion, we’ve seen some really cool collaborations that have subtly risen the stock of both F1 and the pop culture entity. For instance, at the 2005 Monaco Grand Prix, Red Bull donned a Star Wars-themed livery in light of the upcoming movie; Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith. At the time, the film franchise was arguably the biggest pop culture phenomenon to happen. Now, 18 years later, Alfa Romeo may be on its way to replicating something of an equal magnitude.

Needless to say, Drake is one of, if not the most popular R&B artists in the whole wide world. That being said, the 36-year-old rapper has also very smartly delved into the domain of business with many of his ventures. However, now, at the cusp of the 2023 F1 season, Alfa Romeo has made an announcement that may see these two brands take the world of Formula 1 racing by storm.

Alfa Romeo announced earlier today that they will be having a new title sponsor for the upcoming F1 season. This means they will end their ties with erstwhile title sponsors; Orlen [a Polish oil company]. The Zürich-based team has decided to partner up with Stake, a crypto casino and sports betting venture. But where does Drake feature in all of this?

The F1 Guy, Vincenzo Landino, took to his Twitter, to write, “I’m waiting for Alfa Romeo to do something with Drake. First, they announce the new title partner, @Stake. And now they’ve partnered with streaming platform Kick(.)com, in which Stake is an investor.

“Drake is a partner of both.”

“I want to see the OVO Owl on Alfa merch.”

Robert Kubica tried to weave his way back into the sport on the back of his national company, Orlen, joining hands with Alfa Romeo. Back in 2021, when Kimi Raikkonen tested COVID positive, he did get his chance, too. However, with the announcement that Orlen and Alfa Romeo are going to part ways, what does this mean for Kubica and the Polish oil giants?

According to Motorsport.com, “Orlen has now moved instead to AlphaTauri as a principal partner. Kubica cut his ties with Alfa Romeo at the end of last season and it’s understood that he won’t have an opportunity to drive for the Faenza outfit, which would mean that his FP1 session in Abu Dhabi is likely to be his last appearance in an F1 car.”
