Lando Norris takes a dig at Mercedes and Lewis Hamilton! Notably, Norris had a frustrating end to his race, after being told to stay put behind his teammate. The Briton still managed points finish despite the porpoising. However, he isn’t necessarily bothered by that.

The Briton believes that porpoising and performance are indirectly proportional. He concluded that if the teams want a better result, the car will bounce more.

Lewis Hamilton: Biggest victim of porpoising?

Lewis Hamilton has arguably been the biggest victim of these oscillations. The ‘porpoising’ got so bad for the Mercedes drivers that Hamilton was in clear anguish after the race concluded. The Briton took several minutes to get out of the car and initially sat on the halo for rest. Previously, even on the radio, the driver had complained of backache.

Though Mercedes have landed themselves a podium and a P4, it was extra hard-earned. At one point Lewis was even outside points finish and somehow breezed past the others. Though he became a driver of the day, it surely wasn’t without struggles.

Further, Norris commented on the ‘porpoising complaining’ issue by Mercedes. The majority of the cars are oscillating, including the McLaren. However, this is certainly not a problem for Lando, who, when asked, “How is the ride in McLaren?” replied, “It’s beautiful. I’m loving it at the minute. Umm, I’m not complaining, yeah. We have some porpoising, some bouncing, but it’s what you have to deal with.”

“It’s the trade off trying to gain performance but we can quite easily go lower, gain performance but have more porpoising, but we just think we’re at is the correct amount. And so the Mercedes could have a much different floor and raise the right height, and it’ll be much nicer for them, but they’re obviously on these performance. Yeah, I don’t think it’s anything to complain about, it’s just people need to find ways of fixing it themselves,” he further added.

Daniel Ricciardo sympathizes with drivers

However, Norris’s teammate Daniel Ricciardo had different opinions on porpoising. He said, ” I certainly experienced bouncing or porpoising whatever you wanna call it. Bad for the first time today and I actually feel very, very sorry for everyone that’s experienced it all year coz it’s like I actually can’t speak badly enough about it. It’s bad.” So, Ricciardo makes his stance clear!

Ricciardo also had a decent race in a long while. After a tough past few weeks, the Australian finally managed a good run, which finished in points despite the last-minute competition from Norris.
