Lewis Hamilton has won the Monaco GP three times (2008, 2016 and 2019). He is understood to have been generally good around this track. However, the 7x champion who has blazed the streets of principality hasn’t won a race in Formula 1 for over two years. But that still doesn’t discount the fact that it is a special circuit for the Britton. Having raced there for the first time almost 20 years ago, Hamilton took a trip down memory lane ahead of the race weekend.

Monaco is a place where drivers dream of racing and winning. Considered equivalent to the world championship win the most elite and prestigious race is one-third of the coveted triple crown of motor racing. A 19-year-old black boy lived his dream when he raced in the F3 series in Monaco. He, then, became a seven-time champion later, but kept the precious memory close to his heart.

He took to Instagram to post a 2 picture montage. He captioned it touching all emotions and wrote, “Monaco always takes me back. I raced here for the first time when I was 19, in Formula 3, and I couldn’t believe I was finally here. Had the best weekend of my life, too. Won my race and went on the F1 grid. It’s amazing to still be here and I don’t take it lightly. Every time we race here I think about that 19-year-old 🙏🏾”

While this message must have boosted the morale of the LH army, hoping for an end to the winless drought, a pressing concern seems to plague the 103x GP winner.

F1 expert analyzes Hamilton’s Saturday performance in F1

Lewis Hamilton is still the man who holds jaw-dropping records in F1. One of them is being on the pole for 104 times. For context, the second is Michael Schumacher with 68 poles. For someone who has beaten multiple generations of drivers, Saturday pace isn’t straightforward at this point in time. An F1 expert has targeted just that and with a probable reason.

Discussing on the Missed Apex Podcast, the host discussed Lewis Hamilton’s depleting, qualifying pace. They asked, “Is it a sign that at the age of 39, Lewis is less of a great qualifier and maybe more of an expert racer these days?”

They answered, “Maybe his skills are more over race distance. It is an interesting question. He [Hamilton] is six-one down to George Russell in qualifying this year. Does it reflect where Mercedes is at, at the moment? And maybe Lewis is placing more emphasis on his car’s race setup,” the F1 pundit mused.

Do you think Lewis can turn the tides of time for Mercedes and bring forth something exceptional for the upcoming Monaco weekend?
