For the first time in more than 16 years, Sebastian Vettel will be out of a job in F1. While his retirement has been an emotional ride for fans, Red Bull still hoped to keep him in the sport. There is no chance of Sebastian Vettel coming back to drive for his former team, Red Bull. In fact, it seems to be a team management and advisory role that the German might get. In a live feature Sport and Talk aus dem Hangar-7 (ServusTV), Helmut Marko revealed how they had offered Seb the role at his final race in Abu Dhabi.
As per Twitter, Marko said, “I told him [Sebastian Vettel] what that [advisory role] was about in Abu Dhabi, explained it all, but when he heard how low the salary was compared to a driver, he was not happy.”
Vettel quickly refuted Marko’s claims about him denying the role for the money. He stated, “Yeah, yeah… don’t believe everything Dr. [Helmut] Marko says!”
Despite his years of driving experience, Seb has got a good knack for strategies and race management. There have been several instances when the German driver called the shots on his race strategies from his cockpit.
So, Red Bull may not be looking to get Vettel on board just for the sake of him being a former RBR driver.
Though the money will be certainly less than that of a driver if Vettel opts to take up a management challenge at any team. Given Seb’s recent statements, it is more likely money is not the reason he denied Red Bull’s offer.
What’s next for Sebastian Vettel – Is an F1 comeback possible?
Vettel’s former rival Fernando Alonso is certain that the 4-time champion will come back to F1 as he did. But is it that simple and similar for the German driver? Seb already mentioned how he wishes to be with his family more rather than racing.
Unlike Alonso, it may not happen that Sebastian feels the urge to come back to the sport. There is always the possibility as the 35-year-old might take up a team management role or a TV commentary role.

But given his recent statements, it feels like Vettel has retired for the good. It will take a big change of heart or a big tempting offer to get Seb on board for anything related to F1.
Vettel had mentioned how he signed up for Aston Martin in the hope to fight for wins again. So, unless he sees that kind of opportunity and a passion to return, he will stay firm on his retirement decision.
