Nelson Piquet is one of the most polarising figures in the Formula 1 paddock. He is known for his aggravating comments about F1, its drivers and politics. That being said, just before the Brazilian Grand Prix is about to run, Nelson Piquet has struck again.
The ex-Formula 1 champion who hails from Brazil has come out with a rather harsh political opinion. The video quickly went viral on Twitter. Fans were quick to take to the social media platform to share their views on Piquet’s words about the new Brazilian president.

There has been a shift in the political scenario in Brazil. This might even have a bearing on the running of the 2022 Brazilian Grand Prix. However, Nelson Piquet’s comments about the new President may have just added more fuel to the fire.
F1 Fans react as Nelson Piquet’s foul-mouthed political rant goes viral on Twitter
Nelson Piquet’s viral video has caught the ire of F1 fans. F1 prides itself on the maintenance of decorum and dignity. However, an ex-F1 champ coming out with such words just before a race weekend in the country hasn’t gone down that well with the fans. Let’s take a look at just a few fan reactions to this video.
A Brazilian friend sent me this description of the video below. “Piquet is calling new Brazilian President Lula a son of a bitch, saying he should be in the cemetery, & using the pro-Bolsonaro slogan ‘Brazil above all, God above everything’. Disgraceful, pathetic & sad for #F1.” https://t.co/2Q2G44aGza

O que temos aqui é um tricampeão mundial de F-1 sugerindo no fim que alguém mate o presidente Lula. pic.twitter.com/YpOBKMbeTF

It is far far worse than that. You cannot really say that sort of thing even if you don't agree with their policies. https://t.co/1md3GbvpHu

There have been rumours that the political unrest in the country is caused due to the change in Government. That being said, F1 is said to be not worried about the happenings in and around Brazil. But F1 fans still cannot get past what Piquet had to say.

Recently, the 3x Champion also came under fire for his comments towards Lewis Hamilton. The Brazilian was put down for the comments he had made which were understood to be racist in nature. However, later on, he did come out to apologise to the 7x Champ.

F1 fans aren’t too pleased with how the Brazilian has come out to spark outrage in the public. F1 drivers and former champions have a lot of pull in the media and the public. That being said, fans were unhappy that Piquet used the platform he has for spreading such comments and opinions.
someone told us that a 3 time world champion doesn't deserve to be prohibited in the paddock a few months ago…. https://t.co/4dvz2MKAwS

Nelson is the past. His words, thoughts, feelings, ect, should not be affiliated to anything F1 anymore. You however, keep connecting him to Formula 1.
