Red Bull has two of the most coveted seats in Formula 1 right now. Safe to say, though, that one of those seats is eternally guarded by 2x champion, Max Verstappen. Naturally, all eyes are on that 2nd Red Bull seat currently occupied by Sergio Perez. For the Mexican, this seat came as a career-defining break back in 2021. And he’s used it to good effect as well. However, he knows this is his chance to take a shot at the Driver’s championship, and he’s willing to leave no stone unturned.

Hence, in a possible bid to get into Verstappen’s head, Perez was quoted as suggesting that the Bulls were running two cars before in compulsion. To this, Christian Horner has now responded with, “That’s the first time I’ve heard him say that. We always have run 2 cars since we entered the sport and we always want to have the best two drivers in the car.” It would appear that Perez’s power play antics may have just backfired.

Another dimension that Perez might have missed is Daniel Ricciardo. He’s eagerly waiting in the wings to usurp his throne. And if Red Bull’s patience wanes, Ricciardo would be the favorite to replace the Mexican.

Apart from that, the fans were miffed and shocked to see Checo make such comments. In their eyes, he’s not doing a favor to himself or his championship ambitions this way.
