Sebastian Vettel is not very keen on racing in Las Vegas next year! The city is “too busy” for him and he’d rather race at a traditional location in Australia, which is famous for its legendary track. Despite his comments, the Las Vegas race, which has created a mega hype, will take place next year.

F1’s growing popularity is taking it to places outside of Europe. As the sport expands its business, several traditional tracks are in arguable danger of getting etched out from the calendar. Most recently, the Monaco circuit was in the news as it does not have a contract for 2023. But despite all this, many F1 drivers often have their favorites and avidly support the good old pathways.

Sebastian Vettel reveals his shocking take on Las Vegas

Vettel surprisingly chose the celebrated Bathurst! The Historic Australian race, which comprises a 1000-km track, is usually held in October and attracts a heavy crowd.

Commenting on the electrical Mount Panorama Supercars track, the four-time champion revealed: “I’d rather go to Bathurst!” Take the cash we’ll take to Vegas and invest it in great tracks that already exist. That would be a real challenge. I think that track is a monster.”

Further commenting on Vegas, the Aston Martin driver added, “To be honest, I’ve been to Vegas. I didn’t really like it. I think it’s too busy and people misbehave.”

“Nothing against misbehaving, but it’s just when you go too far. Vegas seems to be a hotspot for people who just go too far – when it’s not funny anymore.” Vettel’s take on the Vegas crowd is arguably shocking for many F1 fans.

Bathurst organizes ‘The Repco Bathurst 1000″ in the Supercars Championship Calendar. This is usually a 4-day event where teamwork, skill, and endurance are tested. Notably, the event’s legendary, “Peter Brock Trophy” is one to boast about.

Bathurst does not match FIA standards

While the track is obviously a fan favorite, it certainly doesn’t match the FIA’s standards. To qualify as a prominent Formula 1 racing track, authorities need to get a Grade 1 licensing from the FIA itself. However, Bathurst stands on a dull Grade 3 only. Understandably, a lot of rework will be required to make the track F1 ready.

However, with the growth of F1’s popularity, anything is possible. Many old tracks have been in the news regarding a potential comeback, and one even did (Vegas). So, it might just be a matter of time that with the right amount of effort, Bathurst might debut!
