Difficult! Technical! Tricky! And Mercedes driver George Russell is out of Q3 in the qualifying session. The 24-year-old was having a great run, but Q2 just blew his frontrunner hopes away.

Russell before this was an absolute phenomenon during FP2. He was the fastest driver during the final laps and managed to stay ahead of Ferrari and Red Bull.

George Russell did not make it to Q3

Russell was very quickly called back into the pits as soon as Q2 began. Th car went through some changes and came back in. However, Russell found no grips on the tyre and suffered heavily when the car twisted in the very first turns out of pitlane.

As the driver walked back to give his interview, he said: “didn’t have the confidence in the car today”. Mercedes fans would indeed be disappointed with this result. Especially after realizing that Russell was capable of at least closing into the top 4 or 5.

Twitter reacts to Russell’s outing

Twitter however never fails to react and had many things to say about George’s elimination. Mixed reactions with funnily tweaked memes are always the way Twitter likes it.

Lewis Hamilton, on the other hand, made it to Q3. Hamilton, who has been struggling very much and has faced constant comparisons, will see this as a win. Mercedes, also overall as a team, seemed marginally improved in the Qualifying.
