One cannot create experience. One must undergo it. Lewis Hamilton is arguably the greatest F1 driver of all time with Max Verstappen following in his footsteps in his endeavor to become the greatest. On these lines, a former W series driver revealed her pick of the 2023 grid. It’s going to be very difficult for anyone to pick between the two, right? To the surprise of everyone, she didn’t pick either of them despite having 139 wins and 9 championships combined.

Naomi Schiff disclosed that she would pick Fernando Alonso in terms of pure ability and racecraft. The Spaniard is the oldest driver on the grid this year with over 350 race starts, 32 wins, and 97 podiums. This makes him the most experienced driver on the grid with 2 plus decades of experience. The Rwandan was quick to point out Fernando’s ability to place the car exactly where he wants and extract every last bit of performance from the car.

According to PlanetF1.com, Schiff said “I think Fernando might just trump them in the sense that he’s so much more mature. He’s been in it for so long. I think even last year, we could see it in the Alpine and that there were moments that he was just extracting the absolute maximum out of their car. He’s the kind of the guy that you wouldn’t want to play chess with, because he’s always three steps ahead”

Alonso has made some terrible career choices while switching teams but that doesn’t sway the fact that he’s one of the purest talents F1 has ever seen. Yes, he maybe could’ve achieved more had his choices been better. However, his latest switch to Aston Martin looks promising.

For once it looks like Alonso has made the switch at the right time. The Spaniard last won the Driver’s Championship in 2006. He finished as the runner-up four times in the years 2007, 2010, 2012, and 2013. He is looking to add another championship to his tally. Aston has come up with a quick car this season which looks to be the second-best after Red Bull with huge potential to develop further. Although it looks difficult to challenge for championships this season, the forthcoming years can be very fruitful.

According to the-race.com, Max Verstappen said “For this year, it’s difficult to say if they’re going to challenge for the championship, but race wins are definitely on the table. But for sure they have a really strong package and now of course it’s all about developing it further.”
