However, Toto Wolff’s realistic comments about the upcoming upgrades might shatter the Briton’s hope. Will Mercedes be able to make a 360° turnaround? What exactly does Lewis mean by Magic Trick?

As recently as 2021, Mercedes suffered because of changes in regulations that affected the low-rake cars. However, the team overcame the challenge and won the 2021 constructors’ championship. The month-long break due to the cancellation of the Chinese GP came as a boon for the struggling team. Mercedes CEO suggested that a new concept is showing great numbers in simulation and will be ready in time for the Emilia Romagna GP. The team agrees about the direction being taken and the trajectory is a positive one.

However, Toto Wolff remains realistic about the upgrades and expects a consistent and steady suggesting there is no magic bullet to make the car a race winner all of a sudden. Despite Wolff’s comments, Lewis Hamilton remains hopeful of a magic trick to skyrocket Mercedes toward the top end. The Briton explains how Mercedes has achieved the feat of fast development in the past and expects the same this time around.

According to Independent.co.uk, Lewis Hamilton said “There’s a part of me that’s just hopeful that we find the trick and we’re straight onto the right track that’s not far away from the others,” Referring to the past, the Briton said, “We’ve shown in the past that we can develop quickly, and I hope that that’s the case as the potential of the car opens up.

Mercedes announced that Mike Elliott will be promoted to the CTO whereas James Allison will be coming back as a Technical director. James Allison was responsible for building Mercedes’ last championship-winning car. As a technical director, he would have more control over every aspect of the car development. Toto Wolff explained how Allison will act as a gladiator, helping the engineers with a more hands-on approach toward the consequence.

According to Formula1.com, Toto Wolff said “Mike has moved up to CTO, as he has a brilliant switched-on scientific mind. And James Allison has returned to his Technical Director position, reporting into Mike.” “What Mike’s assessment was, and the introspection is really admirable, is that with James we have a gladiator on the field and the troops are going to go through the fire for him and with him.”
