This year, it seems as though Max Verstappen will run away with the Championship. He is so far ahead that if things go as planned, he will be crowned World Champion at this weekend’s Singapore Grand Prix.
In light of this, he has detailed why he feels his rivalry with Leclerc is completely different from the one he had with Hamilton and, in doing so, he snubbed Red Bull’s dominance.
While speaking to the media, Max Verstappen said. “The cars are completely different, you’re fighting a different team.”
“The points lead, of course, nobody expected it to be like this.”
However, he went on to explain the rivalry this year. “I don’t think it really portrays how the season has gone in terms of competitiveness because all the races we have had, I don’t think there has actually been one where we have been, let’s say, really dominant.”
Hamilton and Verstappen shared a rivalry that got ugly many times during the course of last season. In all of 2021, it seems as though Lewis Hamilton came out worse for wear. Red Bull boss Christian Horner seems to agree.
Christian Horner feels Max Verstappen left Lewis Hamilton “broken” after 2021
Christian Horner is not the one to shy away from bold statements. However, on a recent episode of the podcast ‘Beyond the Grid’, he made a sensational comment about how the Championship battle with Verstappen has left Lewis Hamilton a wreck.

While speaking to Tom Clarkson, he said, “You definitely saw when Lewis qualified on pole at Silverstone and Max won the sprint race, he was a bit broken after the sprint race.”
Contextualizing the entirety of the 2021 season, Horner believes that Verstappen got into Hamilton’s head, “I think arguably more so in Lewis’ head, because he’s a seven-time world champion… he has everything to lose. Max is the young kid that’s taking the risks, that’s throwing everything at it and has got nothing to lose.”
