As Williams’ driver Nicholas Latifi is all set to leave Formula 1 at the end of the 2022 F1 season, Williams already has a promising talent in their mind as a replacement. The British F1 team looks at the rising F2 driver, Logan Sargeant, who could be in the Grove-based team next year. However, things will need to fall for this to happen.

As Nicholas Latifi decided to leave Williams after some bitter-sweet years, the team from Britain now has their eyes on American motorsport driver Logan Sargeant. However, Sargeant will need to have the FIA super license by next year in order to race in F1.
Talking about the superlicence, he can only achieve it by finishing the 2022 F2 season in P5 or higher. With Felipe Drugovich already occupying P1 and taking in the championship with 241 points, only four slots remain for the superlicence. However, things look a little better for Sargeant as he’s in P3 with 135 points.
Despite the cushion, the American F2 driver would still need to keep an eye out. Even though Sargeant is with 135 points, drivers like Jehan Daruvala, Jack Doohan and Enzo Fittipaldi are breathing down on his neck with 126 points, and Liam Lawson with 123 points.
With Colton Herta’s chances gone, all eyes are on Logan Sargeant
During the summer break, there were rumors about Colton Herta’s chances of being in McLaren’s seat next year. With the Woking-based team already bidding goodbye to Daniel Ricciardo, chances were high regarding the infusion of Herta in McLaren.
What an honor it is to confirm that I will be joining @WilliamsRacing as part of their driver academy. I am extremely grateful for the opportunity and the faith they’ve put in me. A massive thank you to @Infinity_ISM for all of their help. I can’t wait to get started. pic.twitter.com/DvyCOfDb9G

However, the Papaya team decided to go for Oscar Piastri instead. Subsequently, Red Bull’s sister team, AlphaTauri showed interest in the IndyCar driver. But he fell 8 points short to get his super license.
All of this shattered the American dream of having an F1 driver on the track. With Sargeant’s resurgence now, hopes are still alive as the American driver has already joined Williams’ academy in 2021.
Moreover, Nyck de Vries, who has been the reserve driver for Williams, also had a shot at the Williams seat. As de Vries will be moving to AlphaTauri next season, the path seems to be open for Logan Sargeant.
