The Formula 1 world is approaching its peak as the days go by. Following already being well-known among Americans the highest echelon of motorsport is going to arrive in the sin city of US – Las Vegas. The first thing that comes to mind upon hearing this city’s name is a party. And who better to head out parting with you than a friend you have respect for? According to Australian rookie Oscar Piastri, who has a troubled past with an American phenomenon, this precise situation will take place in Las Vegas this year. Piastri wants to rock the city with that individual despite their turbulent past. So who is that person, and what is Piastri’s troubled history with him?

If 2023 will be remembered for Max Verstappen’s supremacy, it will also be recalled for the chaos that the rookie driver unleashed. We had an impressive number of rookies this year, and among them, Oscar Piastri and Logan Sargeant stood out as exceptional performers. Although the two are now working hard to score some key points for their teams while battling out each other, this rivalry has existed for a while.

In the 2017 British Formula 4 championship, both drivers competed. Despite the fact that neither of them succeeded in winning the championship, Piastri defeated Logan Sargeant by a margin of 20.5 points to place second. Sargent exacted revenge in 2018 at the Formula Renault Eurocup by claiming a higher place in the standings by a significant margin over the Piastri. Later the two joined the Prema racing team in 2020, and Piastri ultimately won the championship by only four points over Sargeant.

Such has been the history of both pilots. And now that they are both competing at the highest level of motorsport, the fact that Piastri chose Sargeant to join him for a party in Las Vegas demonstrates how close their bond has grown. In the Fellas podcast when the McLaren man was asked about the Las Vegas atmosphere and who he would text first to go out in Vegas, Piastri declared, “I don’t know how wild the race will be, and I’ve seen a little bit of how the track looks and there’s some big straights as well, but the atmosphere and just the event itself is going to be wild.”

Later he added, “So I’m quite good friends with Logan Sargeant on the green. We’ve been teammates before. We’re same age. Well, obviously both rookies this year. So I’ve known him for a while.”
