Formula 1 is not all about driving. What makes it special is the glamor and attraction related to it. Recently Max Verstappen was seen commenting on the showmanship and glamor that he has to deal with outside F1. Even though the Dutchman made $6,000,000 from sponsorship deals in 2022, Verstappen had a word of criticism reserved for them. But what were the exact words of Verstappen?

F1 has had some drivers with great showmanship, and a prime example of that would be James Hunt. Nevertheless, with everything being so complex in F1 nowadays, drivers and teams usually attend to the sponsorship deal and shoot after the race. Max Verstappen, however, is of a different opinion and does not like the showmanship around F1.

In a recent video that surfaced on Twitter, Max Verstappen suggests he only likes the driving bit related to F1, because that’s what he does best. And everything else around it which comes when you enter the world of Formula 1 does not matter to him.

Although Verstappen pocketed at least $6 million from sponsorships last year, his complaining about the glamor and the showmanship does sound a little hypocritical. It should be fine until he feels like the shoots and shows are hampering his driving and performance.

Ford and Red Bull explained that their contract will be for a technical partnership where Ford will provide electrical technology and batteries from 2026 onwards. However, Martin Brundle believes it’s just a deluxe sponsorship. The contract allows Ford to put its logo on the Red Bull whereas Red Bull will be able to badge its RBPT engine as a Ford. Brundle suggests that it’s just a branding thing.

According to gpblog.com, Martin Brundle said, “This is a sponsorship plus with Ford,” the analyst added. “they said they will get involved with the technology and it’s a way of Red Bull being able to badge the engine. This is a branding thing.”
