What a season Fernando Alonso has been having so far! The 41-year-old has looked stronger than ever, and the AMR23 seems like the first car in almost a decade that has deserved the talents of the man being strapped into it. While the four podiums he’s secured thus far have been a testament to the jump Aston Martin has made since 2022, the Qualifying performance at today’s Monaco GP Quali session is a testament to the unreal talent of Fernando Alonso.

The Spaniard slammed his car onto provisional pole earlier on in Q3. And the margin was such that no one thought it could be stolen. However, Max Verstappen had the last laugh eventually. But the margins were very slim. Hence, even though Aston Martin has been fast all season, being so close to a dominant Red Bull will be the story of this race weekend for the Spaniard. But just as Alonso took provisional pole after a stonking lap, his radio communication became proof that maybe on Sunday, that elusive 33rd victory can be a reality.
