Aston Martin may seem like a team that arrived on the block three years ago, but that is not the case. The team has been here for decades, just in different clothing. While the history is nothing short of rich, an interesting observation has come to light. The team’s DNA has a pattern that may jeopardize Fernando Alonso‘s third title hopes despite Lawrence Stroll‘s heavy investment.
The billionaire honcho is an ambitious man who has heavily invested in making his team the best. Ever since acquiring Force India to re-branding it to Aston Martin in 2020, the work hasn’t stopped. The Canadian has also invested a whopping $300 million in a state-of-the-art facility to make it to the top. Yet a cosmic pattern haunts them.
On F1 Beyond the Grid podcast, Sam Michael said, “It is interesting. You look at Aston Martin this year and how good they are. I was talking to someone a week ago saying if you look through the history of Jordan, Force India, and Aston Martin, which is the same fabric of team, they sort of have this boom and bust, don’t they? Aston Martin now, they have had a couple of bad years, they are going to have a fantastic year, actually. The team quite sort of has peaks and troughs moments—I have seen a repeat there.”

Graham Hill is the only driver ever to claim the Triple Crown. While Fernando Alonso could have given him company, as he has two of the three jewels required, he has no plans of registering a win at the Indy 500.
He said, “The desire is there, but I think the commitment must be really high and 100%, because there is also a danger factor,” he admitted. “When I stopped with Formula 1 to dedicate myself to the 500 Miglia, I realized that small details can make a big difference, and maybe I’m not in step with the times or I’m not prepared like them, and I have to admit it. So, if I want to win the Indy 500, I need to make some attempts, put my all into it and run some ovals before this race. Consequently, I think that when I stop with Formula 1 this time, maybe I don’t want this commitment.”
