Fernando Alonso is a resurrected phoenix after his arrival at the Lawrence Stroll-owned Aston Martin team. The man who has suddenly revived what the world perhaps saw in 2012 when Nando showed a masterclass drive in Valencia is at it again after more than a decade. However, his equations with his teammate and more so, his career choices haven’t always been ideal. But an F1 top dog and someone who has shared Fernando Alonso’s Ferrari days with him is of the opinion that, despite some flaws in the man, he is an absolute genius.
His departure from all his previous teams has been a rather controversial situation. Be it booting Alpine when nobody saw it coming or leaving the mighty Ferrari in favor of the disastrous McLaren-Honda. Even his equations with his ex-teammates haven’t been ideal either. Most recently Alonso had a perhaps problematic equation with Esteban Ocon where the two, and especially the latter, had always spoken his heart out in the media. He even gloated about beating Nando in the 2022 campaign at Alpine.
However, the tides of time have shifted, and Fernando Alonso now has a chance to dream again. But in all honesty, he never really stopped dreaming. Perhaps that is why he is reaping rewards at an age when many think of bidding goodbye to their passion for racing.

As quoted by 20 Minutes.ES, CEO and President of Formula 1, Stefano Domenicali thinks of the Spaniard as a role model. The never say die attitude of the Oviedo-born man is what has particularly won the Top Boss’s heart.
He said, “The return of Fernando Alonso is something fantastic for him, for Formula 1 and for everyone. He is a role model, a reference for everyone. He shows what can be achieved when you never give up and give the best of yourself.”
But the man who just keeps going fresh and young at the ripe age of 41 years, does he plan to stop anytime soon?

Fernando Alonso hung his boots after the McLaren heartbreak but made a return in 2021. But having found his perfect fit in the name of Aston Martin, he was the happiest he could have been. While his contract runs till the end of 2024, one cannot be too sure if he will bid adieu to the sport anytime soon.
In an interview with Bang & Olufsen, Alonso said even he doesn’t know until when will he stay around. He said, “I would also like to know. When I came to Formula 1, my idea was to be here for seven or eight years. Then I won both championships, and I thought maybe I would race one or two more years before leaving.”
