Fernando Alonso had to wait over for a decade and has now finally found a competitive car capable of challenging for race wins. That’s how F1 works. One wrong decision or move can undo years of hard work. Charles Leclerc might’ve had it a little hard in the last couple of years with dismal luck. However, the Prince of Monaco speaks very highly of him as he gives his fellow citizens advice for the F1 title. What did the Prince say?
Charles Leclerc has been considered an exceptional talent ever since he won the Formula 2 Championship in his first go. He signed with Sauber in 2018 and Ferrari picked him up just a year later to replace Kimi Raikkonen. The Monegasque has been leading the Scuderia for about 3 years now and came close to winning the championship last year. However, the reliability issues and driver errors meant most of the time he fell short. It wasn’t only him, but the team’s strategic errors, combined with bad luck, also played a part.

Nevertheless, the Monegasque had to drive beyond the limit because he never had the quickest car in the field and always wanted to push for more. The Prince of Monaco explains how Charles Leclerc is very critical and objective about his performances. He has had both successes and failures during his time in F1. However, patience is the key as the Monaco GP win and a World Championship will eventually come his way.
According to the Formula for Success podcast, HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco said, “He’s very objective, very critical about his performance. I think more so than most drivers. He’s had some great successes. He’s had some tough times as well, but we really hope that one day he will not only win here in Monaco but that he also wins the big title. Patience is also a great quality to have, even if you’re driving extremely fast around tight corners. But I’m sure his time will come.”
Nevertheless, Ferrari and Charles Leclerc have a strong chance of winning in Monaco as Ferrari has one thing going their way, which Red Bull does not at the moment.

Red Bull would not be able to use its race pace and straight-line speed advantage in Monaco. However, Ferrari has one up on Red Bull here as the Scuderia is faster around the slow-speed corners. That, along with the fact that Charles Leclerc is an excellent qualifier, suggests that Ferrari can win the race if everything sails smoothly throughout the weekend.
According to Motorsport-magazin.com Helmut Marko said, “The tire wear will not be decisive. There are no straight lines where our speed advantage comes into play. What we have seen so far, Ferrari is sometimes faster than Red Bull in the slow curves. It’s going to be exciting. Let’s see. But the biggest advantage is the rapid tire warm-up and I think that can be decisive on the qualifying round.”
