For the first time in a decade and for weeks now, the future of Lewis Hamilton with Mercedes has become a topic of debate. The Brit is yet to renew his contract, which expires at the end of the current season. This stalling from Hamilton, for whatever reasons, has created a lot of rumors surrounding his future with Mercedes and in the sport. However, Hamilton put these rumors to bed once more and even made an astonishing revelation about his form.
Since the start of the 2022 season, Hamilton is driving an “undrivable” Mercedes car. Because of the poor state of the car, Hamilton has gone winless for over 16 months now. However, speaking to ESPN as quoted by @JunaidSamodien_on Twitter, standing strong in the face of adversity, Hamilton made an astonishing statement.
“I have no intention of retiring any time soon. I haven’t reached the end of my career. I’m not at the end of my career, I’m at my peak. I’m not planning a change. Mercedes is my home. I’m happy here. I haven’t signed a [new] contract yet, but we’re working on one,” said Hamilton.

Hamilton has been a loyal servant to Mercedes. That does not mean the Brit hasn’t benefited during his time with the team. However, when it rains, it pours, and that is exactly what is happening in the Mercedes garage. Despite pledging his loyalty to the team for the near future, Hamilton does not want to retire with Mercedes. In fact, he confessed other teams have crossed his mind.
“I would be lying if I said I never thought about ending my career somewhere else,” confessed Hamilton. The thought of “one day” rejoining McLaren has also crossed his mind. Apart from McLaren, there’s one other team that entices Hamilton. “I followed the Ferrari drivers on the track and wondered what it would be like to drive in red myself.”
