With major changes to the F1 calendar, came considerable resistance against it from reigning World Champion Max Verstappen. He was not quite happy with the new “chaotic” sprint format, in particular. A world champion from another world of racing contradicted Verstappen’s resistance against the sprint races. 2021 MotoGP world champion Fabio Quartararo disagreed with Verstappen’s stance. And supporting Quartararo is Lando Norris.
While F1 has gradually introduced the new sprint format by holding it only on 6 race weekends, MotoGP has slapped the new format on all 20 race weekends for 2023. And such a drastic change drew criticism from Quartararo, who preferred F1’s way of slowly letting the drivers and teams get accustomed to it. And as it turns out, McLaren‘s talisman, Norris, is in agreement with him.

Norris said, “It’s the start of my holiday. What better way to start than to come back to Silverstone? Will come and see some of the guys racing here at MotoGP. I am here to see everyone. I am good mates with Fabio. Just few different mates scattered around. I am getting to know a lot more other people. But I’ll tell you what. These guys are crazy. So, I got mad respect for everyone here racing.“
The Briton not only spoke about his friendship with Quartararo but also appreciated McLaren for letting him cherish his home race in 2023.
