At this year’s Singapore Grand Prix, McLaren’s Daniel Ricciardo got a top-five finish, his best result so far in 2022. But that doesn’t change the fact that he has had a bunch of ups and downs in his recent F1 career, and is soon to call quits on his partnership with McLaren by the end of this season. Now, his next move is uncertain at this point.

As per rumors, Daniel Ricciardo is considering a position at Mercedes as their reserve driver, giving up his place on the F1 grid. However, the Australian has stated that nothing is confirmed so far and that he is still assessing his options.

Things for the Australian, however, may take a turn post his P5 finish at Marina Bay. Arguably celebrating the same, Daniel was recently spotted in Tokyo, Japan, alongside former F1 driver, Felipe Massa.

In an Instagram story put up by the Brazilian, Daniel is seen sporting a rather expensive, rare luxury watch.

The watch seems to be a Patek Philippe Nautilus, which is a rare ‘one of a kind’ timepiece. As per brilliancejewels.com, the watch is made out of platinum and is embedded with scratch-resistant precious rubies. Such a piece of machinery can set you back $519,000.

The timepiece is quite rare, and only a few customers, including McLaren’s Daniel Ricciardo, have been lucky enough to own it.

Seeing this, fans are left wondering if the eight-time GP winner is really without a seat for next season.

Former Red Bull man’s take on Daniel Ricciardo potentially joining Mercedes

As the talks of the Aussie joining the Silver Arrows strengthened, Daniel was even spotted leaving the Mercedes garage prior to the Singapore Grand Prix.

Former F1 driver and presently the manager of Oscar Piastri, Mark Webber, met with Ricciardo during the qualifying in Singapore.

He shared, “I had a good chat to him last night, I still don’t think he’s sure. A Merc reserve driver role? Who knows how long Lewis (Hamilton) is going to go on for?”

“Merc, a pretty handy operation, so it’s something he might consider.”

If Lewis Hamilton chooses to retire after the expiration of his contract with the Silver Arrows, as the reserve driver, Ricciardo might have the option to take the wheel and partner with George Russell. But if Hamilton stands by his 5-year claim, then Ricciardo might have to wait to get back on the grid.
