Staying true to one’s word is difficult in an extremely competitive sport like F1. The Dynamic nature makes it so unpredictable that sometimes staying true to promises is not possible. Toto Wolff has been stuck in a similar situation. The Austrian denied the rumors of the Williams being a Mini Mercedes. However, it looks like he’s going back on his word as Logan Sargeant’s seat gets in danger. Let’s dive deeper and figure out what has happened.

James Vowles left Mercedes at the start of this year to join Williams as the Team Principal. Many speculated that Toto Wolff sent his subordinate to Williams to make it a ‘Mini Mercedes’. However, Wolff denied all the rumors suggesting how Williams has always been an independent and successful team. Wolff added that the collaboration will continue and has nothing to do with taking control of the team or having a say in the driver’s situations.

Nevertheless, looks like The Austrian is going back on his word with a driver situation being discussed with James Vowles. Logan Sargeant’s performance has been a mixed bag this season. While he did impress during the first couple of races with the blistering pace in qualifying, his race pace has been a bummer. The American’s position at Williams seems to be at risk, as the team isn’t satisfied with his performance.

According to the GPBlog, Sport1.de suggests that Toto Wolff is trying to convince James Vowles to give Logan Sargeant’s unsure driving seat to Mick Schumacher, Mercedes’ reserve driver. The German site also suggests the Sergeant has been asked to show improvement at the upcoming triple-header consisting of Imola, Monaco, and Barcelona GPs if he wants to secure his seat. If the American fails to do so, he might be replaced in time for the Canadian GP.

This isn’t the only time Toto Wolff has been supportive and in favor of Mick Schumacher as he also stood up against how Guenther Steiner and Haas treated the German driver in a wrong way. With the Mercedes team being supportive, Mick Schumacher recently opened up about his life with the Silver Arrows.

After getting the boot from the Haas F1 team, Toto Wolff picked Schumacher Jr. up and put him in the reserve driver role. Wolff explained in an interview how he’s just looking after the mini Schumacher after the bad treatment he got at Haas. Mick Schumacher has been with the team for about 5 races now. He explains that he has settled well within the team and that everyone has been open-minded and welcoming toward him. Mick Schumacher’s tone suggested that he is in a good place now.

According to Formula1.com, Mick Schumacher said, “Since I joined Mercedes, I’ve been settling in great. Everybody is just so open-minded toward me, and that made me feel welcome from the first moment I stepped into the factory in Brackley. I’ve spent a lot of time there in these first months. It’s a very impressive facility. I’m still getting used to the level of preparation that you see here, and I am trying to soak up as much information as I can. Also, there’s still a lot of people I haven’t met but it’s been fun getting to know as many colleagues as I can.”
