Optimism is the faith that leads to achievement. Nothing can be done without hope and confidence. Charles Leclerc has instilled all his faith into Ferrari and Frederic Vasseur. The 25-year-old is optimistic about the Italian team overcoming the problems that have tormented the car since the start of the season. Let’s figure out what Leclerc has said about the SF23 and how Ferrari is mending its problem despite a horrific start.

Ferrari is sitting P4 in the constructor’s standings with only 26 points to their name. Many problems have plagued the start of the 2023 season. The biggest problem seems to be the tire wear issue faced by the Maranello-based team. Ferrari looks to be the second-quickest team when it comes to one-lap pace. The SF23 gets the tires fired up very quickly, hence the qualifying pace. However, during the long runs and races, the SF23 seems to devour its tires at a much faster rate than its competitors as they get out of the operating window very quickly.

Charles Leclerc is optimistic that Ferrari will get on top of the tire wear problem. The Monegasque recently suggested that Ferrari knows what the problem is and just needs to work on it. Leclerc explained how the SF23 has peak grip during the qualifying, but the performance falls off exponentially whenever the tires lose any bit of grip during the race, and from there, it’s downhill. However, the 25-year-old suggests that Ferrari will use the break before Azerbaijan GP in the best way possible to get rid of the problem and get back on top.

According to Formula1.com, Charles Leclerc SaidIt’s still a very, very long season. We are fully motivated to get back on top and we’ll try to use these weeks [before Azerbaijan] in the best way possible. We know where we need to work on and now we just need to make it happen, We seem to be quite good in terms of qualifying whenever the peak grip is there, but then whenever we lose a little grip in the race, it starts to be very, very difficult, and we seem to lose quite a lot of performance, so on that we need to work.”

Although Leclerc is optimistic about Ferrari, that doesn’t mean he isn’t disappointed. The start of the season isn’t what the 25-year-old would’ve imagined with only 6 points to his name after 3 races. Frederic Vasseur understands Leclerc’s frustration and accepts his disappointment.

Charles Leclerc retired from 2 of the 3 races because the tire wear plagued his season. Frederic Vasseur believes that nothing has gone the way Leclerc would’ve wanted things to go. And when the interviews are right after the race, the drivers are not able to digest what exactly happens and express their frustration to the media. However, Vasseur is fine with the Monegasque’s displeasure and has ensured Leclerc that the team is working toward the problem.
