Fernando Alonso had a pretty feisty 2022 season at Alpine, where Esteban Ocon collided with the Spaniard multiple times. The Frenchman was super aggressive toward Alonso. The 41-year-old decided it was time to move and joined Aston Martin. Lewis Hamilton also had a fiery moment with Toto Wolff. Despite that, his Mercedes exit has been ruled out by an F1 Journalist for one reason. What is this reason?

The situation at Mercedes hasn’t been the happiest ever since the Austrian GP. Lewis Hamilton was frustrated at the Red Bull Ring, where the car just wouldn’t turn in, which led to the Briton getting penalized for going over the track limits. When Hamilton consistently complained about other drivers doing the same, Toto Wolff came on the radio advising that the team knows their car is slow and asked the Briton to please drive the car. Since then, speculations of unrest between Hamilton and Wolff have been made.

Things supposedly got worse at Silverstone where the McLaren looked to be the superior Mercedes engine car. One might think if the performance struggles at Mercedes continue, Hamilton will look to move elsewhere. However, Peter Windsor has ruled out the 7X Champion Mercedes exit due to one reason. The reason is the lack of options for Hamilton to move to a top team.

According to Peter Windsor’s YouTube video, he said, “If Mercedes are really bad there[Hungary] then Lewis going into the August break is going to start thinking about his future. On where he might go or not go. I can’t imagine Ferrari is attractive to him. Obviously, he did work with Frederic Vasseur as ASM in Formula 3 days and knows him. Vasseur would’ve put out the feelers to him. But then, if he doesn’t go to Ferrari in all the chaos, where is he going to go? He’s not going to go to Red Bull, so he might as well stay where he is.”

Kevin Magnussen caused a safety car toward the latter half of the race because of an engine failure. After the pit stops, Hamilton came out behind Lando Norris, who was on hard tires. Hamilton, being on the soft tires, tried his best to take advantage at the restart. However, Norris was just too quick. Hamilton came on the radio and suggested that the McLaren is a rocket ship.

According to Motorsport.com, Lewis Hamilton radioed his team, “That McLaren is a rocketship. That speed is insane.” Then, during the post-race interview, he said, “That thing was rapid through the high-speed corners. I was just ‘wow’. I couldn’t keep up, but we had a good little battle on the restart.”
