Another race week came to an end as the Italian GP in Monza was won by Max Verstappen. Verstappen looked in total control, despite a late twist in the race. The McLaren of Daniel Ricciardo lost power and stopped on the 47th lap of the race. The race ended under a safety car, much to the annoyance of the Tifosi who came in numbers to support Ferrari.

Daniel Ricciardo enjoyed a decent week in Monza. However, his race ended before the checkered flag and it brought out a late safety car. Ricciardo led the ‘DRS train’ impressively holding off challenges from Pierre Gasly on multiple occasions.

While he was asking questions to Will Buxton and Felipe Drugovich, after the race, the newly announced F2 Champion questioned why Daniel was asking the questions instead of Will.

Hearing this, an excited Will Buxton told Ricciardo, “You know, this is what I told you the other day is that if you take up that Mercedes reserve driver, you’re gonna be hosting the post-race show next year with me”

The Australian replied with a hint of sarcasm, saying, “Oh I’m definitely not doing it then.”

Australian driver Daniel Ricciardo had a strong start in the Italian GP. The McLaren driver was running in the third position in the first lap in Monza. However, he was quickly surpassed by faster cars. Despite that, he held his ground, leading the frantic DRS train.

After the race, he joked and said“It was nice to start at the front you know, nice to be on the second row and got a decent start, obviously was in third and, yeah, I was kinda hoping the race would end on lap 1.”

“Another podium would have been really good.”
