It is no secret, since the 2021 season finale, Lewis Hamilton is a man on a mission and the Brit is looking for vengeance. The Brit narrowly missed out on the 8th championship title and has been unable to fight for it again. After the hugely disappointing 2022 season, 2023 has had a similar trajectory with Red Bull and Max Verstappen dominating the entire season. However, now the entire Mercedes camp wants to see this scenario change and end their misery related to the poor start of their cars. Discussing that, we have a crucial update from Mercedes‘ mastermind James Allison on the issue of the W15.

The Mercedes challenger has been the biggest setback for the team and Hamilton in the past couple of seasons. This is exactly why the Brit made a scathing remark after the disappointing Japanese GP threatening to visit the factory and micromanaging the development of the car. Albeit it hasn’t come to that, but it has surely put a sense of urgency back in Brackley.

Mercedes has been struggling with the car since 2022. The 2023 season saw Mercedes take Hamilton’s advice and ditch the flawed zeropod concept. The W14 made some progress because of these changes but is still lacking the pace to challenge Red Bull. This is the goal every team is working toward and after Hamilton’s first set of advice proved right, James Allison revealed the team is agreeing with the Brit and working toward their 2024 challenger with extra caution.

He said, “It’ll be a different car for one thing. So, we won’t be working with this one. [Lewis] is correct in two senses: it’s a new season; it’s important that we get off the new season on the front foot.”

“But more than averagely so because with 2026 bearing down on us, that car will need to be engineered in 2025. It’s highly likely that the 2025 cars can be close cousins of the 2024 cars. So doubly important to get the 2024 car good,” he concluded.

The next couple of years are crucial for Mercedes and especially Hamilton. The Brit will be within touching distance of the 40-year mark and his contract expires in 2025.

However, despite the occasional criticism, the Brit still has faith in his team.

Lewis Hamilton puts his faith in his team to deliver in 2024

Despite being disappointed and ignored by his team for an entire season and then some, the Brit has always kept faith in his team. He is still working with the same group of people who helped him win six world championships. So despite the bad spell, the Brit isn’t forgetting their contribution and putting all his faith into the team. He expressed this in an Instagram post’s caption after the Japanese GP.

He wrote, “Not the best result, but make no mistake, the talent in my team is incredible. We have some of the best engineers in the business and our accomplishments speak for themselves. We are beyond proof. We know how to be at the top and aren’t going to stop until we’re back there.”
