To fill in the shoes of Ferrari’s last world champion Kimi Raikkonen, the Prancing Horse chose a boy from Monaco. Indeed, it was a good pick as Charles Leclerc has now been the star of the team. However, that doesn’t mean he hasn’t upset the team now and then. Back in 2020, after the season ended, Leclerc was found ticking off one of the things from his bucket list. The Monegasque revealed in an interview with Autosport what made him keep his adventure a secret.

In a conversation with Autosport International show in Birmingham, Charles Leclerc revealed why he kept his skydiving a secret from the team. When asked by the host, “Do you have to ask permission before you go out and do something like that?” Leclerc said, “You normally sure do [have to ask for permission].”
Explaining further, he said, “I didn’t for skydiving because I just told myself that in case it would go wrong, I would not be here to be told off, so I just went for it. They were a little bit upset but in the end, I won’t do it a second time. It was amazing, but it was just to do it once.”

The safety of drivers is the responsibility of the team and Leclerc’s decision to not inform Ferrari about his deadly skydiving adventure made Mattia Binotto upset.

Leclerc opted not to make the team aware of his decision. This made the entire team furious, and the youngster got into hot water for it. Scuderia’s team principal broke out his silence on the Monegasque’s choice to keep his skydiving a secret.

Motorists are restricted by some clauses which are meant for their well-being. According to these clauses, a driver can be stopped to do any activity that can risk his life. When quizzed about Leclerc’s escapade. Binotto said jokingly, “Every now and then the drivers give us a little headache, for example when Charles parachuted out of a plane. Did we forgive him? No.”
The Italian engineer further added, “But he assured us that he would not do this again. I hope he understood.”
