Daniil Kvyat Makes Eye Opening Confession About Red Bull’s Taskmaster After Being “Betrayed” by His Own Team

Honest is one word you can use to describe Red Bull’s chief advisor, Dr. Helmut Marko. The man never minces his words talking about rivals like Lewis Hamilton, taking a jab at the 7x champion being lapped by Max Verstappen to now coming out with a proclamation saying Ferrari man Charles Leclerc will replace him at Mercedes. But the brutal streak of Marko doesn’t end outside his team as he has even been found calling out his own drivers like Sergio Perez for their mistakes. And this veracity laced with personal betrayal is probably the most painful memory of Red Bull outcast Daniil Kvyat.

Daniil Kvyat doesn’t have a fond recollection of his motoring home as he was unceremoniously ousted when Milton Keynes went in favor of Max Verstappen. While it may have repaid the team wonderfully, Kvyat on the losing end isn’t a happy man. Talking to the Track Limits Podcast, the Russian driver admitted that delivery is important to keep the top people happy. The hosts then asked him what his relationship with Marko is like.

Kvyat said, “Of course, he is a big boss, he can be tough. I appreciate always his honesty sometimes of course felt you know a bit betrayed by him. That’s life it happens. Also, it gives a lot take[s] away a lot. In the end, it is also business but yeah relationship is good still to this day. No big issues.”

While it may seem like all love is lost, Kvyat does give the man credit for whatever brief amount of time he has spent in F1.

Daniil Kvyat calls Helmut Marko an obstacle but takes a grateful turn

In the same podcast, the hosts asked the ex-Red Bull driver about the biggest obstacle he had to face to get to F1, and surprisingly, the man who brought him around was named as the biggest roadblock as well. He responded by saying, “Dr. Marko!!” and then continued to explain the vetting process.

“No, I mean, yeah Helmut of course was a very important part of my career. But yeah, it was a lot of things coming together. A good karting career was important and signing with Red Bull’s junior [team]. And convincing them that you are worth it.”
