‘Honey Badger’ joined forces with the papaya team in 2021 on a three-year deal. However, an underperforming two-season stint has put his seat in jeopardy, resulting in the team exploring the possibility of replacing him with the up-and-coming Australian, Oscar Piastri.
Presently, Ricciardo is safe for the following season, as the contract commits the team and the driver until the end of 2023. Despite that, it looks like the Woking outfit is ready to breach the deal to make way for the future talent or pay the 33-year-old while he races for another constructor the next season.
