Daniel Ricciardo’s term with McLaren is coming to an end. The Australian driver had a stint to forget with the British team and he has not found any other F1 seat in the coming year. As Ricciardo is set to leave his F1 seat, former F1 driver David Coulthard feels he should focus more on the sport if he wants to return next year.

Ricciardo, a fan favorite, has always been a star of the show. Delivering on track and keeping people amused off track was his order of the day. However, that was then he was in his prime in Red Bull.
Coulthard believes he should be a little more focused on F1 over his business venture if he has to earn an F1 seat next season. As per FOX, talking about this, the Briton stated, “Right let’s just take it back to where you were. How were you living at that point? What was it that your mind was filled with?”
“Because maybe he’s become more focused on his wine business or spending time in America or whatever it is.”
The Honey Badger, who loves riding horses in Texas, has a tie-up with St. Hugo Wine. And a bottle of his wine costs somewhere around $80.
But can Coulthard be on to something? Because even fans called out on his off-track activities on social media. Talking about this, the British former racing driver further asserted, “Something has definitely changed that’s not allowing him to release that absolute honey badger performance like we’ve seen in the past.”
Coulthard believes Daniel Ricciardo should take his time and rediscover himself
Daniel Ricciardo, who will start Saturday’s Abu Dhabi GP from P13, will leave the grid after crossing the finish line. Amid all this, Coulthard is of the opinion that the man from Land Down Under needs to rediscover himself.

Even if he’s picked up by a team for the 2024 F1 season, he needs to step away from everything before. About this, Coulthard believes Ricciardo “needs to step away, take stock and rediscover whatever it was that was working for him in the first part of his Formula 1 journey.”
Interestingly, Red Bull’s Helmut Marko conveyed to Sky Germany that Honey Badger might join their team as their third driver for the upcoming season. It is, however, not confirmed as yet.

Even though the Honey Badger had chances to stay back in the sport and race with Haas or Williams, as they needed a driver before picking Nico Hulkenberg and Logan Sargeant, it was not something Ricciardo wanted. As things stand, only Red Bull’s contract might see Daniel Ricciardo stay in F1 in 2023.
