Daniel Ricciardo was one of many who bid farewell to their teams after the 2020 season finale at Abu Dhabi. Ricciardo joined Renault in a surprise move at the end of 2018.
He had an underwhelming season with the Enstone-based team in 2018. However, the team showed some major improvements this season.
Ricciardo announced earlier this season that he will move to McLaren. He appeared as a special guest in a podcast, where he talked about his two-year stint at Renault and answered some questions from the listeners.

One such question was, what does the Australian do with the boots he does the ‘shoey’ in? Does he keep them, maybe puts them in a trophy cabinet or does he wear them again after that?
He clarified, “What I do is, I air them out. After Imola, I drove back to Monaco that night. So Monday I just threw them on the terrace and air them out all day. I keep those as little trophies.”

“I actually, because Lewis did his first, signed the one that he drank out of and I gave it to him at the next race. So now he’s got something more meaningful than seven-world titles,” Riccardo hilariously said.
Ricciardo had a horrible season with Renault in 2019, as he could only get to a P9 finish on the championship table. He had five DNF results and no podiums for the season. However, there was a significant improvement in 2020, registering only one DNF result and two podium finishes.

Ricciardo even clocked the fastest lap in Abu Dhabi in the last lap of the race. He had a much better finish in the standings. He finished P5 with just six points off Sergio Perez in P4.
Ricciardo will join Lando Norris at Mclaren next season. We hope that the pair performs well for the team. However, we are sure that the two will form one of the most entertaining pairs in Formula 1 in recent times.
