Though the two frontrunners invited the most attention in 2021, the battle of “best of the rest” was no less exciting. McLaren and Ferrari battled it out for the major part of 2021, and the Red Team came out victorious. Ricciardo is delighted that two teams with a rich legacy in F1 are battling against each other. But he believes it would have been better if the battle was for the top spot.

In a recent interview, Ricciardo reflected on this epic battle and the future course of this fight. “That it’s Ferrari, from the outside it’s a cool story that these two teams have had a few low years as two of the biggest teams ever. And now they’re coming back and they’re fighting it out. If only it was for P1!” expressed the Aussie star.

I think that’s really the story I’m sure many fans want,” he added.
