Daniel Ricciardo fell prey to the infamous ‘Monza curse’ at the Italian Grand Prix this Sunday. On the very racetrack he had won last year, the McLaren driver did not finish the race this time as his engines switched off without notice.
Despite his rough patch this season followed by this recent loss, Daniel Ricciardo maintains a winning smile. It does not defeat his usual humorous attitude despite his defeat on the track.

Daniel Ricciardo’s winning recipe
There is no debate over Daniel Ricciardo’s charming and easygoing presence. Whether he is on screen in the Netflix series Drive To Survive, or in his post-race interviews, Ricciardo is always a fan favorite.
Just after his recent DNF at the Italian Grand Prix, the McLaren driver hijacked Felipe Drugovich’s interview. Listening to him confidently banter, one would not think he just dropped out of a race.

On the latest podcast episode of Fast and Loose: F1, comedian, and actor, Will Arnett, spoke about this very positive attitude in Ricciardo.
As talks turned to Ricciardo’s uncertain future post his current shaky season, Arnett remarked, “He’s [Ricciardo] got that winning attitude . . . it’s never ‘poor me’ and it’s never crying.”
“There are the kind of guys, you know, in football terms, get tackled down near their ankles and they go to the ground and hold their face, but Danny [Daniel Ricciardo] doesn’t have that . . . He’s kind of like ‘That’s the way it goes, I didn’t have a great thing, I crapped out and I’m gonna get off and dust off’ and that’s a winning recipe no matter what he does.”

Daniel Ricciardo is truly inspiring for having that positive outlook no matter what because there will certainly be some questionable times ahead of him.
What lies ahead for Daniel Ricciardo?
Daniel Ricciardo will be soon leaving McLaren as the two part ways by the end of this season. As of yet, Ricciardo’s future plans are uncertain. The Australian driver has openly stated that he doesn’t have “anything teed-up yet.”
But that does not mean plans are not in the works for Ricciardo.
There have been rumors of Daniel Ricciardo talking to Mercedes for a reserve driver role. In that case, he could opt for pole position, if and when Lewis Hamilton retires.

Haas F1 Team has also reportedly contacted Ricciardo, as Guenther Steiner confirmed that the 33-year-old driver is on their list.
While Ricciardo seems optimistic about Mercedes’s prospects, former F1 driver, Karun Chandhok is not. Chandhok seems to be dissuading Ricciardo from the reserve role, as are many fans.
“I would like to see him [race next year]. Even if it means going to somewhere like Haas, who are not championship contenders . . . ” said Chandhok to Express Sport.
