Daniel Ricciardo had placed a bet with the ex-Renault boss, Cyril Abiteboul, during his time with the French team. The bet being, if he scored a podium, Abiteboul would have a tattoo done.

The Australian kept his end of the bargain, as he achieved podium at the Nurburgring last season, by finishing third. However, Abiteboul was let go of by the French team at the start of the 2021 season. But Ricciardo has been in touch with the Frenchmen and is looking forward to getting him inked.

As quoted by Motorsport. total.com, Ricciardo said, “I was in contact with Cyril. And he still wants to have it done. So nobody has to worry.

“I would like to have it done in London because I know a couple of tattoo artists there. We’ll see that we can find a couple of times when we’re both in London. Then I’ll snap my fingers and it will happen.

“I’ll definitely produce content. I think it’s worth the wait. But I definitely want to be there, regardless of whether or not with content.

“I want to see him and know how he feels when he gets his first tattoo. Maybe I have to hold his hand,” Ricciardo concluded. (Quotes translated from German using Google)

Riccardo has kept a bet with his new boss at McLaren

After leaving Renault, the Honey Badger joined the Woking-based outfit at the start of the 2021 season. Zak Brown, the team’s CEO has already placed a wager with the 7-time Grand Prix winner, stating that he will get a chance to drive Dale Earnhardt Jr’s, 1984 Wrangler Chevrolet Monte Carlo, if he gets onto the top step this season.

Daniel thought what will he bring to the table if he gets the podium. That’s when Zak suggested “The Shoey”, Ricciardo’s iconic post-podium celebration.

Ricciardo replied, “Done. The trophy and the boot you’ll drink from, you can keep it.”

However, Ricciardo is still finding his ropes at the Papaya team this season, as he has struggled to make an impact. But after being the second-fastest in FP2 yesterday at the Styrian Grand Prix, Ricciardo surely has his hopes up of getting back on the top step with his new team.
