Daniel Ricciardo stays at McLaren till 2023! The driver has faced intense criticism and has been under fire from the F1 community. His performances simply couldn’t match teammate Lando Norris. Several fans consistently compared him to the Briton while he struggled to finish in points.
However, the last few races were decent for the driver as he at least neared the points mark if not scored them. Though the British GP was a little shunt to him, he made up for it in the latest Austrian GP. The driver managed a double points finish alongside Norris, despite a tough weekend for McLaren.

Now, the team’s CEO Zak Brown has dismissed the rumor of Oscar Piastri replacing Ricciardo and claimed, “We’re going to do everything we can to get him back into his best form. We’re going to do whatever it takes for him, work incredibly hard because we know he can win us races. “

“Can he do it? That depends on the car that we give him. But what we ask of him is clear: that he drives at Lando’s level, either slightly ahead or slightly behind. We have seen that when we give him a car capable of winning, he can do it. He admits that last year wasn’t a great season, but he won a race.
“So we have to find a way to unlock him and give him a car he feels comfortable with.”
Though McLaren has given breathing space to the Honey Badger, they clearly expect him to perform. But can Ricciardo do it?

The Woking team is confident that the right car can bring out the best in Ricciardo. However, things have simply not been easy for the 8 time Grand Prix winner. Since last year, and this year especially, the Aussie has only suffered with inconsistent progress.

While Norris has performed well, even with tonsillitis, Ricciardo has not lived up to the expectations. Plus, the news has been headlined with the 33-year-old’s replacement options.
Although the Austrian GP success has left McLaren clinging onto P4 for now, Ricciardo will be required to push even more.
