Daniel Ricciardo is coming off a tough year in 2021. His teammate Lando Norris comfortably beat him during the course of the season. Although he got better and won in Monza in the second part of the season, his struggle was noticeable.
2021 was Daniel’s first year with McLaren after moving from Renault. The 32-year-old mentions that at this stage of his career he is more focused on being happy in the sport. But Ricciardo made a surprising admission regarding his future with the team and the sport.

I won in maybe the most difficult year of my career: Daniel Ricciardo
As reported by GPFans, the Aussie driver mentioned he is not looking to move anytime soon from McLaren to any other team despite not fighting for championships. The Honey Badger mentioned he likes the team and the brand and could end his career with the team.
“I’ve obviously moved around a bit in the last three years or four years, whatever it’s been, and I do want to, especially because of the environment I find myself in, which is one that I really enjoy, make it work and I want to be here,” said Ricciardo.
” The reason why I’m not even thinking about other teams or anything past my future and anything further than McLaren is that I won in maybe the most difficult year of my career. So I’m also like, ‘If I can win [last year] then what does that tell for our journey to come?’

It would be interesting to see if the Australian driver can win a championship with McLaren in the coming years. Ricciardo has a contract with the British team till the end of the 2023 season. Hopefully, he can win a title by then and cap off his amazing career in style.
