Lewis Hamilton recently created history, when he matched Michael Schumacher’s record of 91 wins. The victory also saw him take one step towards sealing his 7th Drivers’ Championship.
To honor that achievement, Mick Schumacher came to the interviewing area after the race. And as a heartfelt gesture, presented Hamilton with one of his father’s helmets from his Mercedes days.
Moments like these are what make the sport so emotional and memorable. Hamilton, for one, was very touched by the tribute.

Lewis Hamilton gift ‘one of the coolest in the sport’
Although he did not pick up any records, Renault’s Daniel Ricciardo enjoyed his own share of happiness at Nurburgring. He achieved his first podium with Renault, ever since leaving Red Bull.
But he paid his own tribute to Hamilton, lauding the consistency of the 6-time World Champion. And also believed that the gesture from Mick was very impressive.

Ricciardo was quoted as saying, “You can have a package and a car to do it, but it’s doing it every weekend when the lights go out. It’s easier said than done.
“Certainly big respect. I think also the gift that he received: one of Michael’s helmets, that’s one of the coolest gifts I’ve ever seen in the sport.”

Hamilton could very easily reach 100 race wins
Hamilton’s motivation to win after having equaled Schumacher’s record is only going to bubble over. Considering how he could become the first driver to cross the 100 race wins barrier.

The legacy that the Mercedes driver has created is truly phenomenal. It is something that no one had foreseen when he first entered the sport with McLaren in 2006.

But nearly 14 years later, a huge opportunity lies in front of him. And if he signs the Mercedes contract extension, we could very well witness history being made right in front of our eyes.
