We hardly ever witness lasting friendships on the grid, especially among teammates. However, whenever we do, the fans come up with a cute nickname. Carlos Sainz and Lando Norris got one during their time at McLaren as CarLando. However, whatever name the fans came up with for Daniel Ricciardo and Lando Norris, Ricciardo just trumped it with a new name.

The two sat down after the Abu Dhabi GP in order to bid their last goodbyes as teammates in a video released by McLaren. The video posted on the team’s official YouTube page showcased clips from Abu Dhabi. Ricciardo came up with a name for the pair while they were reminiscing about their time together.

“End of an era. You guys thought Carlos and Lando was a thing, hah! Ya’ll seen nothing!” said Ricciardo. To this Norris claimed, “But we don’t have a name like CarLando.”

Something tells us Ricciardo had a name ready for such a moment as he instantly said, “Landan?” And continued explaining, “LanDan! Just LanDan.” After both repeated the name a few times, the Australian even used the new name to form a sentence. He said, “Hey, you sound like you from LanDan!” referring to London, England.

The time between Ricciardo and Norris’s time at McLaren has sadly come to an end. However, thanks to the Aussie, we will always have a name to remember them by.

It did not take long for the name to catch on. With Twitter as proof, the fans are already accepting the new name and abandoning the previous phrase “DanDo”.

DanDo who? The fans are quickly accepting the new name coined by the Australian for the McLaren pair.

Some fans are also pouring their heart out for the duo and appreciating all the laughs they have provided during their time together.

Forget DanDo now, it’s LanDan for life. If not on the track and in Formula 1, this name will live long in the minds of all the F1 fans. You never know, we might still see some LanDan moments in the 2023 season when Ricciardo will visit the track with his new team.
