The Marina Bay circuit is considered to be amongst the most difficult tracks to drive on. The track is bumpy, has shorter straights, and being a street circuit, there are not many overtaking opportunities. That being said, this fixture has always been an exciting race for the fans and drivers alike.
Daniel Ricciardo on deriving inspiration from past races
Charles Leclerc, the pole sitter, said that it felt good to be on the pole but the job needs to be finished. He said that they have been preparing for the race in the best way and hoped for the best result.
Talking about the race strategy, he said, “I won’t go too much into details, as always, but yeah, a good start is important here and the overtaking opportunities are not too much. So if we are 1st at the 1st corner then we can try and manage our race and hopefully bring the victory home.”
Daniel Ricciardo, who had a horrendous qualifying, finishing P17, looked optimistic for the new day.
He continued, “I was actually watching quite a bit of the 2019 race. I managed to make a few good moves there and I started at the back so I’m trying to feed off some of that energy.”
The Aussie expressed his disappointment at starting from the back. However, he said that race days still get him excited.

Reacting to the achievement, the Spaniard said, “20 plus years in Formula One. So yeah, magic moments with my teammates, everybody here in the paddock. But most importantly, I think 20 years, performing on a high level like today starting P5, that probably makes me more proud than the number itself.”
7-time world champion Lewis Hamilton, expressing his love for the Singapore GP, said, “I love this race. It’s going to be a tough race today but I’m grateful for the people that have turned up. I hope we give them a good race today.”
